[Year 12 SofDev] B3 - cost effective

One can only hope that next year, Dr Little skips the lecture on the 'readability efficiency' of online test questions :). It is difficult when the exam jumps around from terms used in the Real World (tm) to the theoretical presumptions of VCAA Software Development World (like Vic postcodes). I think in VCAA SD World the they would use the term "cost efficient" or "cheaper in the long run" rather than 'cost effective'.

Readability Efficiency does exist:
nfp.collins.utulsa.edu/bajaja/MyInfo/journalpubs/ReqEngg1.doc (not recommended to read unless you love TLA's).

Actually on postcodes, it's good procrastination to use the Australia Post postcode search page and look up "Lake Hume Village NSW".

Just don't mention it to those that live there, they get a bit grumpy.
Reason: I believe their post comes from Wodonga.

Heath.

I also find a concern with that question of 'producing code quicklly'...

For me, its a tad too 'open' in the nature of the question with the potential to get some rather odd responses from students.(I dont envy the assessors on these styles of question).

A9 - Students must know the definitions of efficiency and effectiveness to answer this. I sure hope my students did well since I reviewed these definitions regularly during the year.

In B3, however, the term 'cost effective' is used. Since 1991 I have stressed the definitions of efficiency and effectiveness and have not ever used 'cost effective'. Where did this come from? Did anyone else have a problem with it? And since we already have a question about efficiency and effectiveness, why another one? I recognise that there is some help when the question says 'produce code quickly' and differentiates it from 'quality of the program' so students can separate these concepts.

Look, I'm not jumping up and down about the question but it strikes me as odd.

Any comment from folks out there?
