[Year 12 SofDev] SAC 401 Mobile Device?

Dear colleagues

As stated by Maggie, in the introduction section to this area of study in the Assessment Handbook, it reads on page 34:

Designing the assessment task
Teachers should develop an assessment task that allows the student to:

* apply the relevant stages of the problem-solving methodology (design and development) to produce a prototype solution for use on a mobile phone, which is incorrect.

However, the text is accurate in the performance descriptors, which are the important part. Below is an extract from the highest band of performance descriptors.

An accurate interpretation of the provided software requirements specifications is evident in the design of a feasible solution. The design of the software solution is clear, technically accurate and takes into account the constraints of the mobile device.

Also, the study design states 'device' in the outcome statement, in the key knowledge, and in the introduction to Area of Study 1, page 45, where it details the types of appropriate devices, namely: PDAs, mobile phones, laptops and gaming consoles.

Paula

It's actually in the assessment handbook, page 34 rather than the study design:

"Teachers should develop an assessment task that allows the student to:

* apply the relevant stages of the problem-solving methodology (design and development) to produce a prototype solution for use on a mobile phone
"

Hi all,
I am just turning my attention to SAC401 and I have
a feeling I have missed some discussion over the email list.

The general SAC descriptor talks about a mobile device.
Later it talks about a mobile phone. Is it a phone or
will a laptop or tablet suffice?

Regards,

Russell Quinn

Hi folks. I just wanted to draw your attention to a small but significant
difference between SD and ITA if you're doing both subjects.

SD U4O1 and ITA U4O1 both include user documentation, but in ITA it must be
*onscreen* documentation created by web or multimedia authoring software.

In SD U4O1 the user documentation is not constrained to being onscreen and
"appropriate" software is not specified.
