[Year 12 SofDev] RE: Exam feedback

I agree that the paper was fair and had no real surprises.
I also wonder why questions on relational databases appear in the SD exam
when relational databases are not part of the course. Why should students
know that it is common practice to link tables via a unique identifier?
I also think that the blurring of the "old" convention for units can also
cause confusion for students. We need to remember that they are developing
their understanding of IT and SD and units should not change meaning when
applied to different areas of the same body of knowledge.
If they developed a wireless transmission speed of 8Gigabits, would the
convention then become 1Gb means 1 gigabyte transmission?
We need to have some consistency and not always bow to the currently
accepted convention.
As we all say - my 2 cents worth

Cheers Don

Hi Folks,

Agree with the revised posts regarding Section A:

1. A
2. C
3. A
4. D
5. D
6. D
7. D
8. B
9. A
10. A
11. B
12. C
13. A
14. C
15. A --- A big risk . Relational databases are in the itapps course but
not SD. I teach it and require
Programming in it but how many do not ?
16. C
17. A
18. D
19. C
20. D

Section B
Looks straightforward, except
Q 3. I would suggest B, E and G ( any others with justification ?? )

More answers to come once I get the VET IT Cert III exam out of the way.....

Take Care

I certainly agree with 16 being D. My common sense agrees with 8 being B
and I agree on second look it's not pilot as there is more than 2 steps,
but I thought phased implementation was introducing small sections of
the system at a time, I guess this is another version of that.

Thanks for the advise!

Heath
