[Year 12 SofDev] php

To those PHPers and intending-PHPers ... Does anyone know of a genuinely
good IDE for developing PHP?

I haven't taught SD this year, and previously I used Maguma. It
interfaces pretty nicely with the PHP debugger as long as you're doing
PHP which doesn't require any interaction from the 'outside world' (even
Web pages) .. The moment you need user interaction, you really need to
access the PHP from outside of maguma (ie local or network web server).
I would confess that I've failed at getting even a local web server
talking to the PHP debugger in such a way as to provide highlighted
lines in the code itself (which is what maguma can do). Yes, it can all
be done using scaffolding and diagnostic writes, but ...

It still makes me think that there must be a "good" IDE out there which
provides interactive debugging and syntax highlighting ... Or at least a
"recipe" for setting up some combination of software.

Thoughts?

Seems I am in the same position.
Should have been reading all those SofDev posts during the year.....
Have to look trough the archives in my spare time.
Also hope to use Php/Mysql and haven't looked at texts yet.

Oh ! What a feeling !

Dear All
It appears that next year I will be asked to take on a software
development class for the first time.

I have never taught that particular subject before however I have taught
IT apps for the last 4 years.

I am looking for any advice and other information that I can use so I
can understand the course well.

I am looking at using the Fitzpatrick/Keane book as our students are
using it and using Kevork Php/Mysql book for the program tasks.

Having not done PHP and MYSQL myself but I have order and seen kevorks
book I thought this may be a good way to go?

The class is looking like it will only be small 6 students but I do want
to the best by them Any info would be good

Regards
Andrew
