Hi all,

The following webpages are for NSW schools that received their student
laptops, however, they also might well be of assistance for any school.

And wisely NSW DET has kids immediately creating perhaps anonymous and
certainly sensible 'online personas' (eg, an avatar, rather than say a
photo) then jump straight into blogs. In my opinion, well done NSW DET.

For example, 'High School English: Getting Started'

http://www.curriculumsupport.education.nsw.gov.au/digital_rev/english/gett
ingstarted/index.htm

"This small unit of work is designed to be used in the first week or two
of working with laptops in the classroom. Students are encouraged to
experiment with software and develop a digital presence and identity
which is appropriate for educational settings. Students will create an
avatar, a digital signature, a wonderwall and learn how to blog and
contribute to a wiki. All of the activities have easy to understand step-
by-step instructions."

Cheers,
Stephen
