Hi Sylvia

You’re correct in your understanding that the students need to come up with their own hypotheses and data for the SAT.

I doubt you’ll find Practice SATs to purchase as the requirements are clearly stated in the study design and will be further clarified when the assessment criteria are released.

FYI for those coming along on Friday to the DLTV event, I’ll be speaking to the Informatics group about some sample timelines, the SAT and a few other things as well. Anyone who is attending feel free to send through suggestions of what you would like to see/get out/take home from the presentation? OFF-LIST RESPONSES please to jvella at mackillop.vic.edu.au<mailto:jvella at mackillop.vic.edu.au>

Regards

James

Thanks Andrew. Are there any prac Sats available to purchase. I'm just getting my head around the study design and am I right in that the students need to work out their own hypotheses and find their own data sets?
It looks huge!

hi Sylvia
the SAT is big. you will need the students to have their hypotheses discussed fairly early.

then they will need to go off and start finding data sets.

Have you done (for yourself) a practice SAT - so you have experienced what you want the students to do?

That way you can understand where to push them a little better and you can emphasise the milestones

The milestones need to be firm dates, invariant, no leeway, meet (or struggle and fail) dates.

How many hours do you expect the students to actually work on the SAT … out of school and in school …
It is big.

We are dealing with ideas for the SAT in our Headstart program
e.g. what is a good hypothesis and how much data is enough data and over the holidays i expect them to gather data so we can suggest when enough is enough (string comes to mind)

Hi,
I am in the process of planning my course next year and finding it a bit diffcult with only the first chapter of the text book. Can anyone tell me if its best to start with Outcome 2 or 1 and if so does anyone have a timeline to share.

Thanks
Sylvia
