[Year 12 IT Apps] Software for outcomes?

Hi Daryl

If you just need to know the VCAA-mandated RDBMS functions for 2016+
<http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/Documents/vce/computing/InformaticsSoftwareToolsFunctions.docx>,
they are:

   - create tables
   - create relationships between tables
   - use a range of data types
   - electronically validate data
   - create, edit and use queries
   - search and filter records
   - perform calculations
   - create and edit formatted reports
   - sort records or index on different fields.

That would include (IMHO)

   - MS Access,
   - Filemaker Pro (but be conscious of examiners' inbuilt antipathy
to Filemaker's
calculated fields and - maybe - lack of a "maintain referential integrity"
option, and lack of input masks [which may have been implied in the 2015
   ITA exam]),
   - MySQL with a GUI front-end, and
   - OpenOffice or LibreOffice (have not tried them in recent years. Can't
speak for their functionality or ease of use)
   - KellyBase (a new and exciting RDBMS written in 'Scratch' and available
sometime in 2020 for only $600,000 per seat. Order NOW! Pre-payment is
   *mandatory*. Delivery is *not* guaranteed.)

Cheers

Mark
