[Year 12 IT Apps] Teaching year 11 IT and IT applications

>From myexperience it depends entirely on the students involved! I have
done this twice in my teaching history. Once it worked well, I had two
kids that wanted to do Year 11 IT and they were self directed learners who
didn't need any additional assistance or motivation. I have also had
combined classes of Year 11 and Year 12 that were a lot of work due to
students that couldn't direct their own learning.

I think that the needs of the students and skills of the teacher need to
be taken into consideration. It can be a great opportunity for a student
to do a subject that ordinarily doesn't run, or it can, as Geoff puts it
trivialise the subject.
