[Year 12 IT Apps] No ITA at McKinnon in 2012

Our Unit 3 & 4 ITA class at WCC keeps growing year on year. 5 kids last year, 12 this year and it's looking like 22+ next year - Pretty strange given the downward trend others are having. No girls two years running, though, which is a shame (and it makes the IT lab smell funny).

But those kids that have not done ICT y7-10 would have still learned all the skills necessary from their English/maths/LOTE/etc teachers. :) or that's what I keep being told!!!!

Since there's no prerequisite for ITA or SD, we regularly got kids enrolling even if they didn't do IT since year 7... and that is a challenge to get them up to speed!

Hi all.
As I feared, ITA didn't get enough enrolments to run in 2012 - for the first time in about 15 years.
Strangely enough, Software Development *is* running - and before this year it hasn't run for 3 years.
Actually, I'm kind of relieved since SD is more interesting anyway, and ITA seems old, dry and tired. Perhaps it's just because I've been teaching it since forever, or it may be that the new study design is partly to blame - and yes! normal forms, I AM looking at you. And I'd also put some blame on the freakishly large and long U4O1 - my kids were exhausted at the end of that.
After a hiatus this year, Units 1&2 return to McKinnon in 2012, and since I have barely looked at them it will be another fun year compiling resources for those units.
If the ITA embargo continues and SD continues to run, I may craft units 1&2 to be heavy on programming to better funnel kids into SD in the following year.
Do you guys know what units will run at your places next year?

Hello - so sad - I have been teaching this subject for 16 years and I do love it but it looks like its whisping away.
We have about 9 ITA students and about 8 11IT students. Numbers are being finalised this week.
However, our numbers have really spread out across other subjects too. Others are feeling a low in numbers. My concern is where have the numbers gone?

Just had news that Unit 1 -2 will run although numbers are very low 12 students. Unit 3-4 had a glimmer of hope but that has faded. So Nagle College 2012 will be unit 1-2 but NO unit3-4.
