Dear colleagues

Can I refer you to a position paper that will be submitted to ACARA about
the role of ICT as a general capability and as a discipline. Currently the
paper is posted on the Australian Council for Computer Education's website
for comment   http://acce.edu.au/nationalcurriculum

As is the practice in Victoria, schools have flexibility as to how they
implement a curriculum document, but I think that the arguments put forward
in the paper strongly support teaching of ICT knowledge and skills through
an expert. That expert may be a dedicated ICT teacher or another teacher
skilled in the area.

Hi all,

Our school (Ashwood College) is currently involved in a restructuring of the
curriculum.  As part of this move, there has been the suggestion that IT as
an explicit subject will be removed from the year 7 - 9 curriculum.  This is
with the intention that the skills will be integrated into

Has anyone had any experience with this situation, if so can you please
share your experiences.  Any advice for successful implementation?
