David

As indicated there will be a vodcast made of one of the city sessions,
and this will be made available through VITTA. We had considered using
Elluminate, and we may have to open up discussions again. VCAA uses
Elluminate for VASS training, and it has been quite successful. I have
presented a couple of sessions using Elluminate, and it is an
interesting experience! I won't go into the details of that now, except
to say that it requires a different approach to upfront presentations,
and typically you tend to finish earlier than if it was a face-to-face
situation.

Paula

Hi Paula

Thanks for the reply and I can understand your position. I'm just
venting a few frustrations regarding the 'tyranny of distance'.

Would it be possible to, as mark Kelly suggested, record one of the
early sessions and make it available for download or alternatively host
an online session on something like Elluminate?

Dear David and colleagues

I am very mindful of the distance that some people have to travel to get
to a workshop, but unfortunately it is not always possible to meet
everyone's needs. Given financial and personnel constraints we are
unable to offer more than one workshop in each region. VCE IT is one of
few VCE studies that has workshops in every region - some studies have
only 2 - 6 workshops for the state.

It is a tricky business determining the best location for the workshops
with decisions usually based on the concentration of schools within a
geographic area. But often the best plans go astray. For example, we
have located one regional workshop in an area that has a potentially
strong audience, but to date only a couple of people have registered.

VITTA and VCAA will be making available the resource material used at
these workshops, and VITTA will be also making available a vodcast of
one of the city sessions.

Regards

Paula

Hi Paula

While I know you would love to have as many participants as possible, an
(in my case) 8hr return trip to our regional workshop, which is two hrs
in the late afternoon / evening is unrealistic. Perhaps more workshops,
more widely spread?

Dear colleagues

I am very concerned at the relatively low number of people in some
regions who have registered to attend an Implementation workshop for the
revised VCE IT study. These workshops are a wonderful opportunity to
hear experts talk about the study design, to ask questions and to
network with colleagues.

Please visit the VITTA website for details of venues and dates, and if
you are intending to participate, please register now rather than
waiting until the last minute. I know that people are very busy at this
time of year, but earlier rather than later registrations would be
appreciated.
