Hi Laurie -

Try reposting this in the tech list:

Technical Discussion in Schools Mailing List <tech at edulists.com.au>

What you describe is strange behaviour, even for Vista. It makes me
think that some sort of 'policy' has been applied to them. It took me
a while to come to grips with the Vista way of doing things (as usual
with new releases, there are twice as many click needed to get to the
setting that needs fiddling) and the UAC (User Access Control?) gets
in the way of a lot off things. I assume these come with Vista
Business, otherwise they won't work well with MS networking.

I'm outside the DEET umbrella, so maybe a proper state school tech
who know how DEET does things might be more of use to you.

Jim
