Hi Mark,

  Sharing this with the technical discussion list ....

   OK. VB 2005 wants to write to Documents and Settings on the local
drive. Locking the drive completely is extreme and comes at a cost as
you have reported.
   So, by having a Dynamic Local User account as is possible with
Novell, a student can write to that part of the local hard drive
initially ( Documents and Settings) which is cleaned out when they log
out. A Dynamic Local User is the mobile user that is able to move from
machine to machine without the need for a local XP logon. Hoping that
makes sense. This is a Novell solution I have to add.
  This is one solution to the problem.

We had probs cos our HDDs are locked down and VB2005 insists of saving

stuff to "documents and settings", and does not trust students' network

drives.

Ended up reverting to VB6 just before the SD SAC began.  A total pain!
