Check out http://moodle.org/ 

 

It is a great way to share resources and information with students in your
class. You can create forums, blogs, wiki's, allow students to post their
work on it, set online tests and many more features that I would take to
long to mention. Check any schools in your area if they have it and ask if
you can check it out and see what they are doing with. I've done the same
here and am now installing it on our computer network to use with the whole
school.
