Hmmmm! I have been pondering that stuff for VELS for a while now... I  
didn't realise it had made its way into VCE IT as well.

Does anyone else find it quite ridiculous? The computer interface is  
surely only ever a hindrance for visualising thinking!  Even with  
text, it takes years of practice before one becomes familiar enough  
with the keyboard/screen interface that it flows better on-screen  
than on paper. For graphical expression, I really don't see how any  
interface could be unobtrusive enough that it would beat pen and paper!

My second objection to this fad of mind mapping and so forth is that  
it ignores the fact that some people think in a linear or symbolic  
fashion, for which the most suitable form of "brain dump" is a  
textual format, for example the humble numbered or bulleted list.    
Sure, hundreds of software tools (outliners, etc) exist for this, but  
it ain't "visual".
