Mark,

Its very difficult to go past Adrian Jansons VB.Net for Education, I doubt you will need any more than that!

Mark,
I have just had a beginning programming class - mix of year 8 & 9 boys

1.	Started with html in notepad to get the idea of turning
properties on and off - and debugging
2.	Microworlds - for the concepts of procedures and to see that the
turtles will do exactly what you tell them to. Also the help was good
for looking for new things to do or the correct syntax.
3.	vbnet

I hope this is of some help
Sue

Subject: [Year 12 Its] Ideas for starting programming

Hi all. My SoD kids will probably be starting with zero programming
experience and I was tossing around ideas for a kick-off point.

So far I've thought of Microworlds (Logo) - they did in in year 7 so it
should be a warm and fuzzy reminder of their childhoods :-)

And Lego Mindstorms - they can program cars and robots.

Then they might be ready to go to VB or similar.

What do you guys use to kickstart programming?

Mark
