I agree with you Kevork.
When I'm attempting to distinguish the two I use this rule of thumb:  a 
primary data source is uninterpreted data ie the individual or 
aggregated responses to the customer survey. An analysis of the survey 
could also be primary source if it didn't contain value judgements but 
the commentary on the survey would be a secondary data source because it 
is someone's interpretation of the data and thus is a variable the value 
of which is dependent upon the skill, bias, knowledge, motive of the author.
Perhaps someone else has a simpler way to distinguish the two.
