[Year 12 IPM] stop motion pro

I found the support for SMP to be next-to-none. File sizes are huge -
even with min frame size each frame is 256Kb and my kids files were
typically >100Mb.

Cameras were a pia. Could not get the Logitec version suggested, and
used a $70 camera called 'All in One' which the software would 'see' on
one day but not the next.

Is was typical to have to boot SMP 3 or 4 times to get it to run.

My tip - stay away from SMP. Try Monkeyjam or easier still - shoot with
any camera, load Flash, go to File/Import to Stage, the proram will say
'this is the first of a sequence - import all', say yes, and it's all
done!
Easy to add titles, special effects, sound etc.

We had the same network problems. Each frame was saved as a high quality
tif image, and we soon ran out of space, even animating at a low speed
12 frames/second.
I had awful problems and ended up having to purchase portable hard
drives, so kids had heaps of memory and weren't trying to move things
across the network. Also wasn't rapt with the quality of photo captured
using our cheapish web cams.
At VITTA conf last year, spoke to the SMP people and it sounded like
the new version would overcome a number of issues I had. The SMP people
are very helpful and it would be well worth a chat with them.
