[Year 12 IPM] ITA ("IPM 2007") summary

Well said Geoff.
For my two cents worth, the most important words spoken so far, in
regard to applications, is "...demonstrate a range of
uses we can make of the applications."
For me computers are TOOLS, and the creative excitement (what gets them
going and keeps me interested long past retirement age) is the
incredible things we can DO with the applications.
Long ago, while growing up as a farm kid miles from civilization, I
discovered woodworking, and used saws, hammers, planes, chisels, files
etc etc to make great things out of wood. The same instincts are still
working, only the media has shifted. And I find many kids who work the
same way.
Even the geek kids get their thrills in what they are able to get C++ to
do for them. No difference!
My kids don't do Units 1&2 as we jump straight into 3&4, but I will
build into the new ITAPS course as much creative excitement as humanly
possible, and there ARE quite a few opportunities to do that.
