Hi folks,

I have had a combined VET IT Cert III Units 1 and 3 classes teaching all 3
certificates ( Network, Software, and General ), with students from Year 10,
11 and 12 totalling about 22 students, all in the one room since I can
remember -- about 5 years ago .
Yes it can be done with some clever preparation, use of technology to
organise resources and to make the course as self paced as possible.
Actually, you could teach 3 or 4 classes in the one room if you really
tried. But , is it fair or educationally sound ?

In truth, there is less time for interaction, and less time to dig deeper to
see where students need more help. It is a conveyor belt and you are
churning out kids by rushing them through. By running faster, jumping higher
one can get these classes through but I can't help but wonder how much more
I could do if I could give ALL my time to the one group of students in the
room.
If you are teaching 2 subjects in the one room, the students get half a
teacher for their time.
