[Year 12 IPM] ITA Outcome Taxonomy

Funny things "Marking Schemes". Your response depends on what you see as
the purpose of SAC's.
I love them. To me they are fundamentally learning and motivational
experiences that provide direction and purpose to my students as they
gradually acquire expertise in the sequence of skills and knowledge we
call "The Course". The fact that I also use them for Assessment may be
important in the overall scheme of things, BUT learning is their true
purpose in life, as my kids organically develop their comprehension and
confidence.
So, for the marking scheme, I am happy to support inflation - I could
not care less if one sac is 'worth' 300 marks, because I will simply
adjust the student's final score mathematically down to what, for
assessment, I need it to be.
My advice, for those who share similar learning philosophies, is do not
get too precious about there being 'too many items that require marks in
the one sac'. OK, there are many, so give each one of them a decent mark
- If "1 mark" does not seem sufficient for such a detailed item, give it
"10 marks", because this will be a message to the kids that you think
this item is important and they should similarly respond.
<<Steps down off soapbox>> - Wow. That was a lot to say in one breath -
wot you say to that Mark?
Cheers, Keith
