Could I suggest that we also support the VITTA resource bank?
http://www.vitta.org.au/resource

VITTA has oodles of resources contributed by IT teachers and only the
published URL needs to be distributed to these mailing lists. The search
engine also mines the newsletter and conference presentations for
information and you can directly comment on any resources posted. It is free
to use and available as a valuable service to all educators. :-)

If you happen to use an RSS news reader, the following link will notify you
of any new resources or events posted to the website :-)

Regards Roland

Hi folks,

Yes, Mark , thanks for the prod as I would like to comment.
The Netiquette guidelines as stated on the home page under Help!, Frequently

Asked Questions states :
Q: Can I send attachments to the list directly?

A: Yes, but please limit this to small or zipped files. For attachments that

are larger than 1 MB, send them directly to Kevork kevork at edulists.com.au in

order to post on the web site supporting the list .

I realise that not everyone has a fast internet link and even when we
teach IPM we are advised to taylor our solutions to meet the lowest common
denominator and not the best equipment or system people may have access to.
In fact all mail servers worth their salt have an upper limit on email sizes

both outbound and inbound as well as mailbox size limits, otherwise you
could crash mail servers rather easily.

Therefore, if there was a choice between :

 A. Pleasing everybody by having larger attachments accessible through the
web site supporting the list and no subscriber being troubled by huge
attachments OR

  B. Pleasing most or a proportion of the total membership by allowing large

attachments to come through unhindered and upsetting the balance of the
membership

I would choose option A, for the obvious reason that everybody can be
pleased and the attachments will still be accessible within a short period
of time if sent to me for posting on the web site eg.
http://www.edulists.com.au/yr12ipm . Thereafter, an email can go out stating

the resource on offer and a link to it.
Also, and of equal importance, is the fact the resource is archived for
access at any other time in the future, rather than sending the attachments
again and again and again each time someone needs a copy.

Therefore, please restrict attachments to under 1 MB and send them to me for

posting so that no members are inconvenienced.

Best wishes to all of you
