[Design and Technology] Materials used for turning

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping you may be able to help.
I'm using the lathe with my Year 11's and am looking for interesting materials (new and second hand) that would be suitable. I'd ultimately love some plasitcs or things of colour or from nature.
Any ideas gladly welcome.
