Hi Everyone,

I totally agree with your comments below, Michael.

Hoping to push out the year 12 Systems Eng projects until later in term 2 or term 3+. Focus on designing their parts via CAD models and research/planning in the meantime.

With my year 11's (unit 1 and 2) I was initially going for a full year project focussing on mechanical systems semester 1 and electrical semester 2 (2 mini folio's essentially). I like your idea of getting them to redesign existing products instead, so scrapping the full year project.

Instead, they can submit posters/present information similar to a library of 2-3 systems completed via CAD and hopefully some physical construction in term 3.

Sounds easy, but its going to take some effort to switch the students mindsets from full year project to a series of smaller projects.

At least we can still assess using existing criteria's etc....well mostly, depending on what happens in the coming months.

Hi Liz
Your plan seems very similar to mine. It does sound like we will be able to do some limited workshop time with year 12 students classes, up to 10 and social distancing but my plan was to hold off until term 3. Year 11 students I am looking CAD design and some 3D printing looking at redesigning existing products and prototyping. We wont be able to build the product they have already designed.
Look forward to some guidance from VCAA on this one.
Good luck

Hi everyone,

Hope you are all doing okay.

Well its clear that we will be teaching online for several weeks to come, possibly the entire term.

Just wondering how people are going to manage their Unit 1 classes. ie folio done and now into production.

My Unit 3's are still working on their folio and hopefully their production can be extended into Term 4 and we can focus on Unit 4 SAC now instead. Waiting to hear more

from VCAA on this.

What are peoples interpretation of the situation and how you will manage your classes and students remotely? I have ideas but would like peoples thoughts to include

in the mix.

Cheers,

Liz
