Hi Katrina,

We offer a range of technologies as electives from year 7 up, semester based.

Year 7 is 2 periods per week (1 double) at 40 min sessions
Product Design – Materials
Product Design – Textiles
Systems Engineering
Food Studies
Media Arts
Visual Arts (core at a double per week, one semester)
Digi Tech (core at one period per week, full year)

Year 8 is 3 periods per week (1 double + 1 Single) at 40 min sessions, one semester
Product Design – Materials
Product Design – Textiles
Systems Engineering
Food Studies
Media Arts
Studio Arts
Digi Tech
Visual Communication Design
Photography

Each stream is a pathway to VCE

Hi Katrina,

We have students do a rotation of technology during 7 and 8. ICT and Textiles, then Wood and Food.

2 periods of 75 min each per week for a semester.

Then they can which technology all the way through to year 12

Hi Katrina

Yr7 & 8 students at Patterson River S C have a Design & Tech class every week, 2 x 49 minutes, for the whole year. Yr8 have the option to do an elective for a semester; there are 2 electives and they can choose both over the year. These are also 2 x 49 min.

Hi everyone,

Just wanting to gather a bit of information on Design &Tech and Digital technologies taught at Years 7 &8 at your schools.

Firstly, do you offer Design & Tech and/or Digital Technologies as a subject at Years 7 and 8.

Secondly, what time allocation is given to the subjects (eg. 3 x 45min periods a cycle).

We are looking to review our Year 7 and 8 program at my school and I would like to see the Technologies firmly embedded so would appreciate any information.
