[Design and Technology] Soldering stations for year 8

Good morning,

We require some more soldering stations or burn-proof irons for a year 8 electronics class next year.
Instead of paying $220 for soldering stations (currently use temp controlled Weller stations, 50W) can anyone please suggest a cheaper (and safe!) alternative?

I was thinking of buying 230V irons with burn-proof leads, but the 230V thing is a worry! However, I know some schools use these quite successfully and safely.
Happy for comments or ideas on using 230V irons (not stations).

We also require a space saving option - not a lot of storage in this particular class room - hence the reason for the 230V irons that could simply hang on a set of hooks or similar.

But we do prefer soldering stations: Can anyone suggest a good source for purchasing soldering stations a bit cheaper than retail?
Anyone got 10 spare soldering stations in very good working order that they don't want anymore (20-50W preferably)?

Thank you all,

Regards,
