Hi Robin,
My advice to you is make sure the filters are accessible for cleaning purposes. We have two Micronair extractors, they both suck the saw dust out well but there is no indicator on the system that tells you when the bins are full. Now when they do get full you don't know unless you check them regularly (and I can fill a bin in 30mins) and once they get full on a regular basis the suction becomes very poor. This means the filters are full and the pleats need to be cleaned. To do this you have to push a broom handle up into the pleats to get the dust out.
We pay $300 plus each year to get them to come to Geelong and clean them and they are never work as good as the first time you get your system.
When I was at another school some seven years ago we used there units but the filters could be removed from below, which meant you can blow the dust out of the pleats.
I never got to see the new extractors until they were in place as the Principal team would not let be involved in the over seeing of our new workshop. They just trusted the architect and that turned out to be a mistake.
Please feel free to contact me if you want more information.

Cheers, David Foster

We are putting in a new dust extraction system at Marymede Catholic College and I would like recommendations for companies that people have had a good experience with.

Thanks

Robin Panousieris
