Hello to Product Design and Technology teachers (fashion focus)

The article 'Foreign model pitfalls Quality at greatest risk' discusses the importance of Australian companies evaluating new suppliers (with particular reference to those operating in China) in regard to production capabilities, costs, specifications, intellectual property, social compliance and issues regarding workers' entitlements and conditions.

Another resource that may be of interest is The Sample Room in Brunswick East. The Sample Room is used by well known fashion labels (as well as individuals looking to create their own niche fashion label) to develop prototype garments. They also conduct training and have their own fashion label Sha-de, which is manufactured locally from bamboo and technically knitted for high sun protection. Website is sampleroom.com.au
Do a search for 'Local manufacturing still in fashion' if you are interested in reading the article in yesterday's Herald Sun.

Regards, LorraineTran.
