Interesting opinion piece from the New York Times, 15 January:

'Design can’t solve homelessness, but a number of interesting projects like
this one have emerged that offer thoughtful — albeit incremental —
solutions to the problems that arise from it.'

'Our country is confronting so many issues that feel intractable, from
homelessness to inequality, climate change to immigration. It’s normal to
feel overwhelmed, even hopeless, and then to respond with apathy, despair
or inaction. Small-scale projects like PPlanter, Loowatt and LavaMae should
be embraced — but as part of a more systemic approach. No single
intervention, whether it comes from economists, architects or scientists,
is enough. But a bunch of good ones can help show the way.'
