[Design and Technology] VCE Product Design and Technology

Hi all,

Karen and Trudi were knowledgeable and hardworking and I know we all hope they will continue to support Product Design and Technology through committees and postings etc. It was good to see so many responses.

What surprised me is that few of you out there commented on the VCAA posting on the official website of a document (the SAT assessment guidelines) with so many mistakes in it ! Food Tech and Product Design mixed up together. The marking system changed very late in the year and now the assessment guidelines has obvious mistakes in it.

It was Jacinta that pointed it out that the document was out for teachers to download then that there were mistakes - not that the editors at VCAA had picked up the mistakes !

We all know that the VCAA is under pressure to save money but to allow a flawed document, that guides teachers through the SAT assessment, to be posted on their website and expect teachers to pick up the errors that is taking cost cutting too far ! Unpaid editing is that the new cost cutting measure implemented ?

How can we all just accept this and make so few comments about it ?

Very unimpressed

Robin Panousieris

Dear colleagues

We trust your return to the 2014 school year has been good. In the absence of another method, Trudi and I would like to officially bid you farewell as State Reviewers for the study. We have thoroughly enjoyed the teaching, learning and work since we began working for VCAA with this team. We opted to resign as State Reviewers in December and we wish the new person/people to the role/s well and we are looking forward to the skills and knowledge of VCE Product Design and Technology remaining a viable part of study for young people in secondary school.
