Hi all,

I spoke with one of the organisers of an interesting "maker faire" type
event yesterday that you might like to get involved in. The event is
called eurisko Melbourne 2013 (http://euriskomelbourne.com/). It sounds
like it could be a good event to showcase student projects at. It seems
quite well organised and yet affordable.

>From the website:

Eurisko was conceived as a new flagship community event starting in
> Melbourne, Australia that would support the growing interest in engaging in
> hands on, first-principles skill development. The project was started by
> Paul Szymkowiak, Ammon Beyerle and James McDonald, after their success
> running of Australasia’s first Mini Maker Faire event in January, 2012.

They are keen to cover their costs, but it's volunteer driven, so there
will be a small cost involved if you want to exhibit. They are also
looking for sponsors, which could be a good way to raise your school
profile amongst the future makers of the world.

They are offering exhibitor tables (with 1, 2, 4 and 6 trestle table
options) and will facilitate the running of workshops and activities.

I'll be running a table and will do a short version of my 3D printing
workshop.

... speaking of which, here is a quick plug for my workshops on Saturday
Oct 5 at 3:30pm at Southbank Library (which I'm aiming mostly at kids as a
"school holidays" gig, but we'll see who turns up), and another one
(marginally more adult oriented) on next Tuesday the 8th at 6pm at the York
Butter Factory in King Street in the city. There are still seats available
for these workshops, which are (amonst other things) a good way of getting
an idea of the incursion workshops that I deliver to schools. Details of
these and other upcoming workshops are at www.the-robots-are-coming.com

I hope you have all enjoyed your break to the full!

Kind regards,

Scott Phillips
