Dear Connie

Teachers must be able to authenticate the work students do for their school assessment – whether that be for a SAC or a SAT. Authentication may be difficult if students complete their work at home.

Here’s a couple of quotes from the study design:

Authentication
Work related to the outcomes of each unit will be accepted only if the teacher can attest that, to the best of their knowledge, all unacknowledged work is the student’s own. Teachers need to refer to the current VCE and VCAL Administrative Handbook for authentication procedures.
(page 10, VCE Product Design and Technology Study Design (accreditation period 2012 – 2016)

School-assessed Coursework
Assessment tasks must be part of the regular teaching and learning program and must not unduly add to the workload associated with that program. They must be completed mainly in class and within a limited timeframe.
(page 31 and 36, VCE Product Design and Technology Study Design)

I hope this answers your query.

Lorraine.

Hi everyone,

I am a little bit confused about the format for the second Sac, The resource material from the Home economics Assoc suggests that students may finish their Sac at home, is this allowed?

Connie

Dear colleague

In today’s Herald Sun 30 April, Your Time supplement, a very simple survey based on three reader views titled How to stay a step ahead, explains how they evaluate walking shoes. The article includes criteria on which the shoes can be evaluated, and discusses and rates each of the three different shoes ‘tried and tested by our jury – readers give their verdict’.

This resource would be useful for introducing aspects of Unit 4, Outcome 1, key knowledge dot point 1 in the VCE Product Design and Technology Study Design
‘Qualitative and quantitative methods of evaluating products, including user trials, research of users, and expert appraisal methods of product evaluation’

Regards, Lorraine.
