Can I say the article wasn't that great - nice to be told about it but don't
bust a gut trying to get it because there are lots of examples every week in
the newspapers that are just as good.

A great wood focused teacher is leaving us to take up a Vice Principles
position, at the moment his load is VET Cabinet Making and Year 9 Wood
with a role as year 9 coordinator. This is a great opportunity to secure
a position in a re -built school (TOTAL Re-Build)

With state of the art facilities and a fantastic life style on the
Murray River. Please contact me if you have any questions, thanks David.

Hi, could somebody please send me a copy of the Financial Review article
good for Outcome 2 - I haven't even started it yet! Also, does anyone have
any work sheets, or links that would be good for workshop safety. Thanks,
cheers, Anne C

Thanks Jacinta,

My Dad gets the financial review so I will go and steal it from him. I
can scan it and email a copy if anyone would like it. Let me know.

Am wading through this unit for the second year running. I have been
thinking about why the students seem to struggle with this theory
component more than the others. I think it is partly because it is all
so new and out of their realm of experience in this world, but mainly
because we are trying to learn about manufacturing & industry at the
same time as research, trialling and developing design options for their
SAT. Two very different tasks to run simultaneously. The students
have commented that they feel like their time is being pulled in two
directions and they are not sure what to focus on. Maybe I should run
Area of Study 2 before 1 in Unit 3?

Would love to hear other's thoughts on this.

To teachers of VCE Design and Technology Unit 3

I noticed an article in the Financial Review on Saturday, the Weekend
Edition May 16-17 2009 that would be an excellent case study for Outcome
2. It's on page 16 and titled 'Inventors put wheels in motion for
expansion' by Stephen Crafti. The article has a very clear explanation
of the company's product development process among other aspects related
to this outcome.

Unfortunately I couldn't attach it as you need to subscribe to get the
electronic version (which would be worth it).

regards

Jacinta O'Leary
