Design and Technology (textiles/fashion) teachers may be interested in
the article titled What frock? A designer's costly dressing down. In a
landmark case, a judge has ruled that a lili dress is a copy of a Review
dress (both pictured). The case ended with a victory and an award of
$17,500 in damages for Review. Review's lawyer said that it wasn't so
much about the money, but the deterrence value for potential other
copyists. 

 

A sub article on the same page is titled Internet spawns age of the
copycat design.

 

These articles could support teaching about intellectual property in
Unit 1 VCE Design and Technology. It could also support understanding of
aspects that need to be considered by a designer in other units.
