And what about encouraging young males into this course? I have one Year 12 male doing Design Technology in Materials Fibre/Textiles.
This would be the course that took over from the old SAC course, where we did our prac at the old School of Mines and our theory at the old Teachers College, for the first 2 years and then went on to Melb for our final 2 years.

Subject: [Design and Technology] Encouraging students into design andtechnology teaching

Dear colleagues

May I encourage you to pass on to your students, information about the Bachelor of Technology Education at University of Ballarat - an undergraduate course to train design and technology teachers? The course includes options to study a range of materials and systems areas. Increasingly with the aging of the teaching force in our area, it is important to attract young people who will inspire and pass on design and technology knowledge and skills to the next generation. I had the greatest pleasure of meeting one such VCE student on a school visit this week, a young lady who is very interested in encouraging other females into the area.

The website for information is:

Kind regards, Lorraine.
