John and other Design and Technology teachers,

In response to the question:

Looking at Unit 3 Outcome 1 for next years VCE Design and Technology,
does the design brief developed have to be a separate design brief form
that used in the SAT? I guess the answer is YES but it isn't really
that clear.

Unit 3 Area of study 1 (precedes the Outcome 1 statement and key
knowledge/key skills) page 23 of the Design and Technology Study Design
(last sentence) states 'This design brief should not be the same brief
developed for Outcome 3.'

I'd urge teachers to please read each Area of study that precedes each
outcome. The Area of study provides background to what should be covered
in the teaching program.

Tonight is the grand final of the ABC 'New Inventors' at 8:00pm.
Teachers could use products/case studies on the development of the
products shown on the New Inventors as inspiration for the scenarios
they develop for Unit 3, Outcome 1 learning activities or assessment
tasks. Use a 'backwards-design' approach. Maybe someone could have a go
at doing this and post it on this list....how about it?

Regards, Lorraine.

Hi all

Technology, does the design brief developed have to be a separate design
brief form that used in the SAT? I guess the answer is YES but it isn't
really that clear.

By the way, vcedesigntech.com has it's discussion forum up and running,
but there are no users at the moment. How about getting along and
giving it a kick start? Go to www.vcedesigntech.com/forum and click on
the link. Maybe the new teachers of D&T could get some assistance from
the more experienced amongst us.

Cheers
