If you want to follow precise PM theory – what he said.
Just gets a bit confusing for some students when you have a task that precedes a milestone as a predecessor of a task that is following a milestone, that’s all.

I don't think it's a significant philosophical drama, but...

I'd say one task can only be dependent on another task. A milestone is not a task; it's a psychological event (it just happens with no resources or time allocation.)

So, I'd connect a dependent task to the task preceding the milestone - the one whose termination triggered the milestone.

Or not.

Hi All,

I have told my student that dependencies should not be linked to milestones (no duration, but a key date), but to tasks, and now I am second guessing myself.
Can a milestone have a dependent task? and can a milestone be a predecessor to another task. I think not.

Any consensus?
