[Informatics] SAT Data collecting

Hi Roger and Michael

I think this is a great example of how you can show the students how to reference sources for data collection of a primary source. The student is still the person who created the survey and they alone need to assess whether the people who have completed the surveys have done so under appropriate conditions (e.g. not joking around and putting in data that is not serious). They need to quote the collection method and assess its appropriateness to use in future. They could compare the standard of answers they get when they conduct the collection themselves and when it is outsourced to others.

All will be helpful when reporting on this area of study. (Note that it's probably time consuming to do all of this documentation and therefore most students will decide to collect their own responses to questions.)

Lucas

I think as long as the method is recorded, and the mother is acknowledged then I don't see an issue with it.

It's really going to be hard for many kids to collect the required data and if they are able to use there wider network, why not.

Hi all,
Is a student allowed to get someone else to collect data on their behalf? For example, I have a student whose mum works at another school. He wants her to collect data for him. I suppose if he created the Google Form and she just distributed it via hyperlink, there wouldn't be an issue would there? He would still be getting the data directly. I am not at ease about this, but I can't quite put my finger on why. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Michael
