[Cisco] CCNA curriculum access problem

Thanks, Jim.  I did this yesterday as well, but this time it worked!  Now if I can only get the silly Active-X pop-up to quit blocking things...

Hi Robert,

I guess I'd try to do it again. I chose my Cisco curriculum folder instead
of C:\. If that doesn't work, maybe Straub will have a solution. As a last
resort you can get into the curriculum by following the path through the
myriad of folders, starting with the CHAPID=knet-1075147071031 folder (on
the top of the list on the same page as the start.html file). Follow that
through to the knet folder. Go one click further and finally double click on
the 311075147071015 folder. Open the chapterframeset.html file which will
take you into the curriculum. A real pain, but it will work.

I just tried to do this with the IT Ess I curriculum.  The program would not
open up at all from the local disk, and I added the C:\ path as suggested,
but still cannot get the silly program to do anything other than open up to
the start page, and it will not go to any chapter at all.  Any other
suggestions?

Hi Jim,

I have experienced the problem you are describing when trying to access the
curriculum that is in a local hard disk. and the reason for that is the
security feature of the new Flash/Shockwave files.

To get around that you will have to go through the following steps:

1) Make sure you are connected to the internet before starting and have the
lates Flash version.

2) at the opening screen for the curriculum right click inside of the Flash
window and select 'settings"

3) A little "Macromedia Flash Player Settings" window will appear, in there
click the "advanced" button this will then connect you to the following web
site:

4) Select the "Global Security Settings Panel" link that is displayed in the
text on the right handside  under the

5) On the new page a "Macromedia Flash Player Settings Manager" will appear
on the top right, in there there is a drop down menu "edit locations". Click
on it and select >> Add Location.

6) A new window will open ("Trust this location") with four buttons, in here
you can choose to type the path to the curriculum or browse to it (e.g.
D:\CCNA\   ). In my experience it is wise to point the "trust location" to
the hardrive where the material is stored  (e.g. D:\ ) this way if you have
more than one curriculum there you won't need extra locations set. Once you
press the confirm button you will be back into the previous window but this
time you will see the drive letter (and or  path) in the little window
"trust files in thiese locations".

You should now be able to open the material without a problem. (You will
still have to deal with the popup block from the XP service pack 2, if you
are using it)

Hi all,

Sorry if you got this via the IS group. My mistake.

I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this problem. Is anyone having
difficulty getting past the opening screen of the CCNA curriculum? What's
happening, as of the start of this term, is that clicking on any link,
including the curriculum tour or tutorial does not work. It is therefore
impossible to get past the opening curriculum page on my laptop. I go in
through the back door to access the curriculum, but this is getting really
annoying. My colleague has experienced the same thing. The school network Is
not experiencing this problem.

I don't know whether this access problem is related to having to click twice
to get any of the media links or actions, like Flash links to work. This may
be a JavaScript problem but I don't know.

I'd really appreciate any ideas/help/solutions to this annoying problem.
I've tried updating Flash and Java. Its made no difference.
