Hello All - new resource that will be useful for Agric Studies, Geography,
Science.

Regards,
Ann

Farm Forestry - Trees at Work is a new curriculum resource for Levels 5 and 6.
Many of the activities are also adaptable to VCE and VCAL and some are
adaptable to upper primary level. The resource contains 28 activities,
which typically have an information sheet, a resource sheet and a work
sheet to assist teachers and students. For each activity, the links to
VELS domains, CSF Geography and whether they are adaptable to VCE are
clearly described.

The resource helps students to explore a new way of looking at trees -
farm forestry is one of contributing to sustainable resource use.
It includes 6 sections:
1. Finding out about trees and how they affect me, including exploring the benefits of trees, timber, timber species and
products.
2.Where does the timber I use come from, including mapping forests and resources and understanding future wood
supply.
3.What is farm forestry, and where does it occur in Victoria.
4.How can farm forests help sustainable management, including exploration of biodiversity and greenhouse issues.
5.Making it real ? investigating some farm forestry sites, these can be virtual or real life with field work activities.
6.What role does farm forestry have in the future, including what can be done on an individual level to conserve resources.

If people are interested in using the resource they can obtain a free CD
by contacting Jim Mead at the Victorian Landcare Centre,
