Teacher ICT Skill Set is created as a guideline for ICT Professional Development

Add the ICT skill to the relevant category below, if it doesn't seem to fit - add to 'Other' and include a brief description of the skill

Basic Personal Computer Skills

eg: software, hardware, operating system basics, internet basics, applications software basics

  • Basic personal computer or notebook hardware and software knowledge
  • Basic operating system environment knowledge ( Win XP, Mac OS location of drives, applications, peripherals and access/use)
  • Basic knowledge of peripheral use eg. scanner, digital camera, video recorder, projector and interface with a PC
  • Basic internet knowledge (use of email, attachements,sending and receiving, saving, web browsing, searching, cybersafety )

Basic content management system use ( eg. Moodle )

  • How to upload and share a file (doc, ppt, audio, images, animation, movies etc)
  • How to structure online courses by topics, weeks or other layout
  • How to link to other web sites
  • How to allow students to submit/upload an assignment
  • How to maintain a gradebook, attendance and calendar
  • How to create a blog
  • How to write a simple quiz, record assessment and allow feedback
  • How to create a wiki ( open document anyone can edit )
  • How to set up a forum for class discussion or debate eg. should you use open wireless connections ?
  • How to set up a blog
  • How to integrate with Google Apps
  • How to set up eportfolios ( using Mahara or Exabis )
  • How to set up a resource ( room, equipment, space ) booking system
  • How to create a podcast and a vodcast
  • How to set up a chat room
  • How to set up instant messaging
  • How to set up a bookclub
  • How to provide feedback about assessment task to students
  • How to track a student progress in given tasks
  • How to maintain a markbook or monitor progress of individuals in a class
  • How to provide an interface for parents to monitor their child's progress and follow teacher communication
  • How to provide an interface for parental feedback to teacher set tasks and student progress
  • How to set up an image slide show on moodle
  • How to use graphical tools to illustrate data
  • How to set up surveys for students, parents and teachers
  • How to write reports and upload with an electronic reporting system
