Thanks Mel – I really like your idea how you break it up into the grid so you can see each area. I do remember reading (I think) that Year 7’s and 8’s now get free access to the Grok Learning resources as well, so I might include that alongside code.org.

Hi All,

As a member of an independent school, we are a bit slow on the uptake when it comes to the Australian Curriculum. Next year I am pushing to get a Year 8 Digital Technology course and a Year 9 Digital Technology course. We already teach “Digital Entrepreneurship” at Year 7 and in Year 10 I get students to undertake Units 1 and 2 Computing as otherwise I wouldn’t have a VCE class, hence I am now targeting Year 8 and Year 9.

I am trying to put together a proposal for the classes next year – Does anyone have any timelines on putting the year 7/8 DigiTech curriculum into a single year course, and the same for year 9/10? I may not be able to include all of the content from a two year band but single year electives are the best I’ve been offered at the moment! I’ve just sources the 7/8 and the 9/10 Digital Technologies books from Nelson Cengage so can use them as a reference, and even have students purchase them as part of the course if required.
