[Yr7-10it] Textbook + Programming for year 9

Hi all,

I have two questions:

1. Is there a good textbook on the way for the new Digital Technologies
curriculum (similar to the Practice IT Books)?

2. I'm planning on teaching programming to my year 9 IT class next year,
what software and programming language would you recommend? Is game maker
a good option?

Also, please bear in mind that I'm a second year teacher(and the only IT
teacher at my school).
