(apologies for the cross-posting)

Event: Informatics Day
Date: 11 November 2013
Time/Duration: Whole Day
Venue: Swinburne University of Technology, Hawthorn Campus

Thanks to sponsorship from Google, Swinburne University and University of Queensland are providing professional development on informatics to teachers on the 11th of November in Melbourne. You may have seen recently in The Age, an excellent article about the International Olympiad of Informatics (IOI) which was hosted in Brisbane in July (http://www.theage.com.au/technology/technology-news/numbers-game-20130805-2r9yi.html).

This one-day program aims to encourage and highlight the importance of including informatics in classroom teaching by providing high-quality resources and materials that can be brought back to the classroom. We hope to help teachers engage with their students so that they can benefit from learning Informatics during their primary and high school years. The keynote will feature Dr Roslyn Prinsley "National Science & Mathematics Education & Industry Adviser" from the Office of the Chief Scientist and various speakers and practical sessions focusing on problem solving.

There is no charge but numbers are limited to 40. For more information and registration please see:
