Perhaps a project which challenges them to investigate commercial multi-axis robotics and to construct and mimic some of the actions used in a production/professional environments. Typically these are welding, milling type machines(usually of a point to point type). Maybe they could then synchronize several robots to music as a challenge!! Seen some really cute and excellently done examples of this on you tube by major japanese producers..really cool stuff!

my 2c worth for ya!

Subject: [Yr7-10it] Advanced lego NXT robot projects

Hi Everybody,

I'm looking for ideas and resources for advanced year 10 students for a
robotics unit. Specifically, a major programming (the focus is on
programming rather than mechanics) task that wraps everything up. We don't
have a huge length of time, so soccerbots or killbots are likely out of the
question, and the students have already done a project following a line from
one place to another. Any ideas or pointers are appreciated.

Cheers,
