Hi Luke,

There was a session at last year's VITTA conference on Rethinking
Junior IT. If a VITTA member you can download the presentation file from
their website.

Taking that as a starting point, you can visit specific schools once you
know what you are looking for by asking eg . Who has a 3D animation
program such as Blender at their school ? I would love to hear more
about it ? Alternatively, you can ask for a summary of the software or
IT courses Yr7-10 for consideration.

Whilst not wanting to prevent you from discovery tours of schools, it
may be more productive if you are more specific.

Just my thoughts.

Best Wishes

Luke...the I.T. bible(the unofficial one, that is)..is here:

http://www.mckinnonsc.vic.edu.au/la/it/index.htm , also, the VITTA web
site has stacks of resources and, if that aint enough for ya,...the
vcaa.vic.edu.au site has the 'official' stuff on it!

howz that..

For further info, it depends on what type of program you are
targetting..

VELS (yr 7-10) interdisciplinary or school based decision process
based...or:

(post-compulsory courses)...

VET(Cert I, Cert II etc, VCAL, VCE subject based, ITApps, or Software
Dev. , Multi-Media.

For Certificate based stuff, the NTIS.com.au (national training
information service official site) is a good start for AQF, AQTF based
programs and, to top that off, if you ARE going that path, then just get
in touch with an RTO who has the courses you are interested in offering
on their scope. You arent far from the AIET office in Brunswick, so
Allan Barnes could be a contact for you...he is often on these lists,
usually on the Vet one.

Whichever path you develop...theres the reporting and documenting stuff
to be done too.

The list goes on!

Hope this is of help mate, and doesnt scare you off!

Here..

I do VELS based I.T.(individual subjects of I.T.) 8-10, VET IT Cert II
at yr 10, (Cert III next year), VCE Units 1-4(not software develpment
here though). Just currently updating all our course planning docs this
year for a school audit plus lots of other stuff to keep me busy...

seek and you shall find..

Kent.

Subject: [Yr7-10it] 7 - 10 Program

Hi guys,
I'm Luke and I have recently been tasked with updating/developing a
program for ICT in my school, St Johns Greek Orthodox College in
Preston. The current resources at the school are non existent and this
is only my forth year teaching and my second actually doing ICT. There
are some great resources up on the edulists site, but what I would like
to do is visit a school/s and see how they are implementing ICT across
the years 7 -10 to get some ideas. Would there be anyone who is willing
to have me visit them at thier school and give me some pointers on
getting a good ICT program running at my school?

Regards,
Luke Hall
