[Yr7-10it] Basic Info on Computers and the Net etc

Jason,

The Casey Cardinia Library has an excellent Online Computer School with
information on PC's, Internet, Viruses, and several software packages like:
Word Excel Photoshop Powerpoint. Just be aware that the info and examples
are becoming quite dated; (eg. Pictures of old 1.44meg floppy disks etc) .

To access go to

http://www.cclc.vic.gov.au/

then from the middle of the page click "The Computer School" / "Free
Computer Tutorials".

On the next page that comes up click "Free Computer Tutorials" then click
the "in-library" option, rather than the "at home" option.

Enjoy,

Hey guys. I am new to this list and I was wondering if there was anyone that
had a powerpoint or something similar to introduce the internet. I know it
is late but I have just been handed the class and havent taught it before,
and I am starting with the internet.

Any help would be super!

India to unveil laptop costing Rs500

s500.html>

 'January 31, 2009 - With Tata Motor's coming out with the low-cost
Nano car, a group of Indian students are coming out with a laptop for
Rs500 ($10), cheaper than most pocket calculators, which can be used
globally for educational purposes and revolutionaries the computer
 market in developing countries.....'

Now things are hotting up with these small devices! Do not
underestimate the technology shift that is now kicking in to help
drive innovation in both China and India and how this could impact us
here. Whilst this ultra-cheap, Linux powered laptop might not make it
across the production line, the next may well.

We ignore it at our peril.
