Hi Sylvia,
 
I do this with the Dip Ed Primary pre-service teachers and try to keep it as simple as possible.  We just use plasticine, and digital still cameras. Move the models a bit and take another photo, then move again, another photo, etc, etc.  We then grab the photos from the camera via usb and use Windows Movie Maker to pull it together and make a movie.  We also use audcity to edit sound clips and add them to the movie in Movie Maker.  Easy peasy!
 
I do know there are much more sophisticated tools out there, but it works well for a bunch of pre-service primary teachers!
