Hi there Mathsperson....
Graphmattica, definitely,
Derive, can be good,
Poly is cool! Its great for showing kids the shapes in 3D..
Have you considered the maths advantages to showing kids about 'wire frame' models used in 3D graphics to get them a 'feel' for what a shape will look like? Can be integrated using a variety of CAD based type software and is lots of fun as well as a key learning tool, when used properly!
What about some online drawing tools, just do a search and see what you get, it usually yields a few pleasant surprises..
Also, try the Maths300 web site..lots of valuable stuff there too..
In general, I have found that heaps of unis put their coursework online and allow open access, as I just found with my online GradCert Maths that I have just done(still waiting for my final exam result!). Many maths departments put both coursework and worksheets/exams online too, some have software too.
Surf the net, just type in 'Maths drawing programs' or 'Maths Graphical programs' or similar..and see what you get..its a big world out there of which we are only a small fish..
Go grasshopper..(sorry, couldnt resist!)
Hope these help..feel free to email me if you get some cool stuff..I am picking up a maths subject again next year and will be doing computer stuff too..but I am going to try avoiding supposed 'maths games'..much to the annoyance of colleagues..they call it educational..what I've seen, its more like let them play games when they cant be bothered teaching real maths! Sorry, but after teaching IT for so many years its clear the difference between teaching and teachers filling time! (this puts the nose of some out of joint occasionally...I'm a bit old school in some ways)

Subject: [Yr7-10it] maths applications

Hi all,
I'm asking about applications programs specifically related to maths so
that our maths dept can increase their use of ICT. We have adopted
Mathletics due to a recommendation from this list so thank you.
Do any of you particularly recommend any of Cabri II, Equation grapher,
GrafEq, GraphMatica, Mathcad Explorer or Poly? These are for year 11. Any
other recommended programs for years 7-10?
I've signed up our maths co-ord to edulists so she can ask in other
branches. I thought I'd post here cos these questions are kind of
interdisciplinary.
