The eTrain conference is a Melbourne Grammar School initiative in conjunction with the AISV (Association of Independent Schools Victoria) and the Australian Government Quality Teacher Program to bring together innovative educators and students to take on ICLT challenges that support a community based program. 

The Collingwood Children’s Farm and Abbotsford Convent is the site of this inaugural event (Nov 9-10). Situated on 7 hectares of land just 4 kms from Melbourne’s CBD, the Collingwood Children’s Farm provides a unique, educational and fun country experience for city folk ...

TECHNO TEAMS

1 Video Victors:   There is so much that happens on a farm. Be responsible for capturing the events and sounds that make up a typical day at the Collingwood Children’s Farm. 

2 Video Vikings:   Surge forth to interview local residents and regular visitors to the farm to uncover the mysteries of the farm and why it is such a special place. 

3 Video Vulcans:  In late breaking News, today at the eTrain Conference the eTTV team will set out to bring you stories from the day’s events. Come along and learn how to make a media news piece. 

4 Clay Makers  Mac:  Claymation is here! Are you ready to make your own movies? This workshop will provide you with the opportunity to develop skills in storyboarding, scripting, set production, filming and editing a Claymation feature film using iStop Motion and Garage Band. 

5 Clay Makers  PC:  Claymation is here! Are you ready to make your own movies? This workshop will provide you with the opportunity to develop skills in storyboarding, scripting, set production, filming and editing a Claymation feature film using Stop Motion Pro and Audacity.

6 PSP ­ Photo Story Photographers:   Retell the life of the Collingwood Children’s farm and the Abbotsford Convent by combining archival photos with our modern day digital techniques. Interview past residents to get information to help you narrate your story and capture a special time and place in history.

7 Kahootz Kreators:  Join us and you will use the Kahootz 3D software to create your own advertising campaign based around why the Collingwood Children’s Farm is such a wonderful place.

8 Power Pointers:  Design an interactive online quiz/game by using digital photography, video and PowerPoint (animation). Your quiz will be used to try to out smart visitors to the farm for years to come.

9 Crafty Composers:  Create spectacular sound scapes inspired by the noises surrounding the farm. You will use Acid Software, Notebooks and your instrumental skills to create musical pieces for video and pod casts.

10 Artists Extraordinaire:  Use ICT and your amazing artistic skills to create a lasting image of the farm that will remain on site for many visitors to see and enjoy for years to come.

11 Comic Capers:  You and the feathered & furry residents of the farm will become the stars of your own comic strip! Learn how to create fun and meaningful comics without the need to draw. You will be using a new program called ‘Comic Life’.

12 Pod Casting Captains:  Create an audio tour with live interviews of the Collingwood Children’s farm and the Abbotsford Convent. This information will be loaded onto the website to allow visitors to download onto their iPods to listen to your broadcast.

13 Quick Time Rangers:  Stitch together a 3 dimensional tour of the Collingwood Children’s Farm and the Abbotsford Convent. Then find your favourite ‘hotspots’ to add another dimension to your tour.

14 Flash Fanatics  Use your web animation and design skills to contribute to our exciting eTrain webpage. Develop an interactive bird’s eye view of the farm."
